8. PhD scholarship on the impact of wave energy converters on coastal processes

Research project

Given their high energy density and persistence, ocean waves are an attractive source of renewable energy. However, there is very limited knowledge about how the range of wave energy converters (WECs) presently being developed modify incident wave fields (e.g. through dissipation and radiation), the wave-WEC interactions in arrays of multiple devices, and how WECs impact the near- and far-field wave conditions that influence sediment dynamics in the coastal zone.

Requirements/Eligibility

Applications are invited from both Australian and international students. Applicants should possess an Honours or Masters degree (or equivalent) in environmental or coastal engineering, oceanography, or related fields (including environmental science, civil/mechanical/chemical/ocean engineering and physics).
