From Aug. 26-30, 2018, IUTAM Symposium on Mechanics of Electro/Magneto-Active Materials and Structures were held successfully at Peking University, China. Peking University Institute of Ocean Research actively help to hold this symposium.
The symposium brought together over 80 scholars in the related fields all over the world. Conference chair Academician Fang Daining, Academician Gao huajian, Academician Nimal Rajapakse, co-chair Prof. Christopher Lynch, Academician Zhang Dongxiao, Prof. Duan Huiling started the opening remarks. Then, Prof. Robert McMeeking presented a keynote speech. Academician Yang Wei, Academician Zhang Tongyi, Prof. Kaushik Bhattacharya followed other keynote speeches. The audience actively involved in the Q&A after each keynote speech and benefited a lot from those presentations. Also, there is a poster presentation session for the young scholars to introduce their research and communicate with other experts.

The symposium aimed to introduce the latest academic research and technology on hot issues of mechanics of electro/Magneto-active materials and structures. It successfully provides a platform for domestic and foreign experts and scholars to exchange ideas and achievements.
