1. Master of Science in Geographic Information Science for Development and Environment (GISDE)
THE PROGRAM
Clark University's Master of Science in Geographic Information Science for Development and Environment (GISDE) is a joint program between the Graduate School of Geography (GSG) and the International Development, Community, and Environment Department (IDCE).
The GSG typically enrolls over 50 Ph.D., 60 M.S., and 120 B.A. students, and is consistently rated by the US National Research Council as a top 10 Geography program.
IDCE is a unique center of translational research whose faculty and students work to address some of the world's most pressing social, political and economic challenges. Clark's GISDE program accepts both GIS novices and people with prior GIS experience. The program is STEM approved, which allows international students to work in the United States via OPT for up to three years after graduation.

4. 2017 MPOWIR Pattullo Conference Registration is now open
Pattullo Conference
MPOWIR (Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention) is holding its biannual conference this fall. The conference brings together about 30 junior participants and 15 senior scientists for three days of professional development and mentoring sessions. Leaders are drawn from research, academic and industry careers. Attendees participate in a variety of research and professional development sessions including: negotiations, proposal writing, and one-on-one opportunities with Senior Scientists. The conference will be held October 1-4, 2017 in Warrenton, Virginia.
The goals of the conference are:
* To bring junior women and senior scientists together to share experiences, advice and concerns.
* To build community networks with peers and senior scientists.
* To get feedback on your current research.
* To raise awareness of issues confronting junior women among the senior scientist community.
Generous support from our agency sponsors includes funds for all participant travel, lodging and meals. Approximately 15 senior scientists (both male and female) will be invited to attend the conference.

7. 2017 NASA Planetary Science Summer Seminar Applications Open
2017 NASA Planetary Science Summer Seminar Applications Open
NASA is accepting applications from science and engineering post-docs, recent PhDs, and doctoral students for its 29th Annual Planetary Science Summer Seminar, which will be held in one single session in summer 2017 (July 24 - 28 only) at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.
During the program and pre-session webinars, student teams will carry out the equivalent of an early mission concept study, prepare a proposal authorization review presentation, present it to a review board, and receive feedback. By the end of the session, students will have a clearer understanding of the life cycle of a space mission; relationships between mission design, cost, and schedule; and the tradeoffs necessary to stay within cost and schedule while preserving the quality of science.
