The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) provides leading international research and education, with innovation and sustainability as central themes. Research and education are closely interwoven and address societal challenges. The Faculty consists of the departments of Transport and Planning, Structural Engineering, Geoscience and Engineering, Water Management, Hydraulic Engineering, and Geoscience and Remote Sensing.

Job description

We will hire a full-time (1.0 FTE) Professor of Hydrology and Water Resources (or an Assistant/Associate Professor with the capacity to develop into a full Professor in several years) in the section of Water Resources Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Delft University of Technology. The main selection criterion is the scientific quality of the candidate, as witnessed through peer-reviewed publications, externally funded research projects, teaching excellence, and leadership.

Requirements

The successful candidate has a PhD in Hydrology, Water Resources, or a closely related field, and has broad experience in the field of water resources and hydrology, preferably including experience with different geographic settings. The candidate has an excellent track record in scientific publications and in acquisition and management of externally funded research projects. In addition, he or she has a clear vision on future developments in research in the field. The candidate has excellent teaching qualities and a strong interest in teaching the next generation. The ability to communicate fluently in English and the willingness to learn Dutch within the first three years are required.

2. Associate Professor of International Affairs

3. Assistant/Associate Professor in Atmospheric Sciences

The Department of Environmental, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at UMass Lowell seeks a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor in Atmospheric Sciences. The successful candidate will have expertise in atmospheric dynamics as well as modeling or remote sensing, and a demonstrated ability to develop interdisciplinary research that connects atmospheric science to hydrology, environmental pollution, biogeochemical cycles, or geomorphology. 4. Assistant Professor - Atmospheric Prediction and Data Assimilation

The Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences (MEAS) at North Carolina State University (NC State) intends to fill a tenure-track faculty position inatmospheric prediction and/or data assimilation. Possible research areas include, but are not limited to, storm-scale and mesoscale data assimilation, ensemble forecasting and analysis techniques, and the prediction and predictability of weather and climate across a range of scales. Desirable expertise includes exploitation of radar, satellite, and/or in-situ data, development of numerical techniques and visualization tools, expertise in employing diverse atmospheric models and ensemble techniques, and interest or experience working with operational or interdisciplinary collaborators. The position begins August 16, 2018. Hiring will be at the Assistant Professor level.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in the atmospheric or related sciences. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong potential for outstanding accomplishments in research, research supervision, and teaching. Course offerings may include undergraduate or graduate classes in atmospheric dynamics, geophysical data assimilation, numerical methods and modeling, or other classes commensurate with the candidate’s interest and expertise. Enthusiastic engagement in NC State’s undergraduate degree program in meteorology is expected. MEAS places a high value on excellent instruction and the use of innovative teaching methods.

5. Geophysics Faculty Position

The Department of Geosciences at Boise State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the broad field of Geophysics beginning in Fall 2018. 6. Assistant Professor of Structural Geology
