On June 26, 2014, Ma Cheng, Researcher of Navy Equipment Research Institute, and Wu Lixin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences were invited to Peking University.

The topic of Ma's speech is  "Key Questions on Hydrodynamics". He introduced ship hydrodynamics and related research progress in foreign countries.

Academician Wu Lixin reported on multi-scale dynamic process variation in the deep sea and  its impacts on the resources and climate. He explained frontier issues in the deep-sea multiscale dynamics, including the Western Boundary Current, the Ocean Meridional Overturning Circulation and the impacts of small and mesoscale processes and variation in the mixing process on climate and resources. He also introduced the Transparent Ocean research program that is currently being promoted.
