Professor Zhang Ronghua visited Peking University Institute of Ocean Research on June 12, 2015. His topic of the speech is "Progress and Challenge of El Nino and Southern Oscillation Research". This speech was hosted by Professor Zheng Mei from the College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, who is also the vice dean of the Insitute of Ocean Research.

Zhang Ronghua is the senior research fellow of the Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also a senior research scientist of the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center, University of Maryland. In his report, he introduced the El Nino and Southern Oscillation, elaborated its formation and impact on the global climate, expounded the latest research progress, highlighted the progress and prediction in 2015, and distinguished the difference between the ENSO in 2014 and the ENSO in 2015.
