Meeting Senario

Professor Wang Lei, Vice Dean of Peking University Institute of Ocean Research, made a brief introduction to the institute. It focuses on promoting the developmnet of the ocean deciplines and the construction of a comprehensive ocean research platform at Peking University. Besides, the institute is committed to provide intellectual support for the national ocean policies and strategies.

Liu Qun introduced the basic information of National Defence Economy Research Center. It was founded in 2001, and it targeted in the research of the defence economic issues and problems. Accordingly, the center emphasizes on the research of important issues regarding the adjustment, reform and construction of the defence economy.

Research professor Hu Bo pointed out that under the current international situation, the peaceful competition was a better way for the development in the South China Sea. In order to ensure the regional stability and promote the multilateral development, China's priority is to develop the fishery, the tourism, and the oil and gas resource exploration. Meanwhile, he said that the non-governmental participation in the South China Sea should be encouraged. The economic approach could not only promote the development of the South China Sea, but also support the government in solving the South China Sea issues.
