Research Interests

Our research interesting mainly focus on the bioactive metabolites derived from marine organisms (sponges and corals), marine mangrove plants and their associated microorganisms. The research work included the isolation, structure elucidation of novel natural products, bioassay of the obtained compounds, and structural modification of bioactive products for further new drug development, and the interreaction of drugs and target proteins. So far, we examined more than 50 species of marine organisms inhabited in South China Sea chemically, and more than 3500 natural products to be isolated, of which more than 400 new compounds are characterized. Part of them showed potent bioactivities including and HIV-1, anti-cancers, and other activities. Up to date,we published more than 200 papers in scientific journals, involving Org. Lett., Tetrahedron, JNP, EJMC, BMC, and Phytochemistry, more than 10 patients related to bioactive natural products were awarded.
