Research Interests
Our research focus on finding new bioactive secondary metabolites from marine organisms, especially form marine-derived fungi. We isolated fungal strains from sponge, soft coral, mangrove plants and deep-sea sediments. On one hand, bioassay-guided isolation would be carried out in our research. Fungi that exhibit anti-tumor, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory or lipid-lowering bioactivities will be selected out for further chemical investigation in order to find the bioactive compounds, and bioactive-structural relationships of the derivatives would be discussed to find new drug-lead compounds. On the other hand, our chemical investigation would be performed by means of chemical-guided isolation. The molecules with novel skeleton would be purified and their chemical structures would be identified including absolute configuration. The novel marine-derived secondary metabolites would be used as small molecular probes to discover newly potent drug targets.
